Baidu is set to release its AI generative language model, Ernie Bot, in March according to the company’s CEO, Robin Li.
According to DigiTimes, the precise date of Baidu’s Ernie Bot release remains unknown, but it is expected to be available soon and may only be accessible to current account holders. A press conference is scheduled for March 16.
Ernie Bot was first introduced in 2019 and has since been updated to its third generation. Baidu has developed a full-stack technology for AI, which includes chips, technology, platform, and applications. The company claims that its AI service is trained by billions of user searches and feedback through its diverse services.
Ernie Bot is expected to be more suitable for Chinese users as it understands Chinese culture better than Western models.
One of its applications is AI-generated digital humans working as virtual AI assistants. Baidu’s digital human, Du Xiaoxiao, even participated in China’s National College Entrance Examination and wrote an essay last year.
