Amazon is levelling up its logisitics offering with the help of AI. Speaking to CNBC the company’s vice president of global operations, Stefano Perego, discussed how the retail giant is implementing AI for route planning and helping customers located products when searching on Amazon.
“Imagine how complex the problem of deciding where to place that unit of inventory is,” said Perego. “And to place it in a way that we reduce the distance to fulfill to customers, and increase the speed of delivery.”
Perego explained that Amazon is using AI to encourage customers to purchase products kept in warehouses closest to their location, cutting down on shipping efforts.
